Treatment
Session
When you come for your first
Indian Head Massage session you will be asked to complete a
short medical questionnaire and give a reason for your visit. This helps to give the practitioner an
understanding of your health issues.
| You will be seated in a
massage chair with your clothing on (unless you prefer to remove
clothing from your upper body for the use of oils). The chair will be
adjusted for your height, posture and comfort.
A variety of massage
movements will be used such as Effleurage (smoothing), Petrissage (deep
movements), Champissage (chopping), Kneading, Frictions, Tabla Tapping, Hair
Raking, Hair Plucking & Hair Tugging.
Indian Head Massage can be adapted
and varied to suit different physical characteristics of the
client, such as their body size, muscle tone, age and hair
characteristics. |

Treatment can be given once or twice per week and the number of sessions
required depends on the condition being treated, but 4 – 6 sessions
are normally recommended for maximum benefit.
After the initial
sessions, some patients may wish to continue treatment on a monthly basis to prevent problems re-occurring or to maintain health and well
being. |
When the body is subject to stress and
illness, the skin and hair are often affected, sometimes resulting in
dryness and hair loss. Tension can result in the scalp becoming
tight, restricting the flow of nutrients to the hair that promote
healthy hair growth. Using oils on a regular basis can help
encourage healthy shiny hair, slow down hair loss, greying hair and softens
and moisturises.
Indian Head Massage is suitable for people of all
ages as well as children and can be used for the treatment of conditions such
as:
- Tension headaches
- Eyestrain & eye problems
- Tinnitus and other ear problems
- Insomnia
- Neck and shoulder stiffness
- Sinusitis and congestion
- Hair loss & thinning
- Scalp tension
- Mental tiredness, anxiety and stress
